I kind of felt like writing something about this subject for a while, and especially this week since ive ended up in the big topshop in oxford street not once but twice, both times as exhausting and as painful as each other mostly due to the crowd surfing and waiting around.
Some People see the big topshop as sort of mecca of fashion and generally balm for the soul. Iam kind of one of those unfortunate people. Obviously i pretend i hate it and to be fair i dont generally end up buying much based on principal and the major overpricing, i just scilently cry. So on tuesday i had a little ' i hate topshop nd evey1 here ' fit, iam pretty sure we've all been there.
I do think topshop stands for a lot of good things that i generally admire about english fashion -the creativity, the importance of fashion for the sake of fashion rather than sex and attracting men. When i go back home my eyes get burned from all the flesh on show, here they get burned from the mismatched zebra prints. The thing is i dnt know whats more annoying. I love love clothes, precisly for the reason that it lets you be something else, and its fun, but then the urgence to be someone you clearly not in pink metal leggins that peple put n for the sake of getting away with it rather than because it makes them look prettier/classier/nicer/colourful brings out my nan in me.(who once blackmailed my little cousin into telling me i look horrible so i change my dress as it apparantly made me look like a parrot - true story ) The fact is you can spot a topshop fanatic a mile off,or u'll just be looking in the mirror or pretty much anywhere. Even if you dont have anything from topshop, u pretty much look like u do. Thts how our culture has been moulded into one big fat topshop lovefest, its this 'cheap-chip' try anything add messy hair and floral dress thing, and that is kinda how i dress too i guess.
I guess the problem of globalization is that we are all going to look the same pretty damn soon, and thats why when iam home in russia and people slag topshop off not for the same reasons they people slag it off here, but for the general hatred of the western mentality when it comes to dressing i kind f smile to myself. I mean dont get me wrong i dnt think i have any right to judge anyone when it comes to clothes . ITs just the fact that topshop is not taking over the world completely yet makes me happy, coz then there will not be enough gap between us all left to teach each other something, and that is the most important thing as far as iam concerned.

So i thought id start a blog, probably coz iam stressed and i remmember writing bulletins on myspace calmed me quite a bit, but no1 is on myspace anymore (apart from maybe lily allen).
anyway snooooooooooow. absolutely amazing. It got me thinking about what makes us happy. i certanly saw a lot of happy faces yersterday. Mine was one of them. I was like that little kid in the coca cola advert who sees santa. i went out by myself bought lots of film and just walked with my music. by the brige, along the river. just taking photos of trees. There were like about 15 people on the bridge taking photos, i thought there was a whale again in the thames.
Funny thing is i dont remember last time i was that happy, Not because i knew what i was doing with my life, had loving boyfriend, lots of money, or any those instant pleasures that suppose to make you happy. it was that feeling , when it just flows, when the time stops, and you absorb everything around you and for once it is not the recession or bombs in israel, its people being outside with their family, kids, friends.
So yeah i know that it is a bit embarassing and pathetic for a country like ours to have a nationaly holiday for 2 days just because it snowed a little bit (ok quite a bit) and i now we are losing like god nos how many billion pounds and the economy is in shit anyway blahdy blah, but who cares. People actually talked to each other and to their neighbours. I had a lovely conversation with a woman on a bridge. She had a cool dog i took a picture of. All because it just snowed. Last time i felt like we all pulled together like that was on 7/7 not a nice comparsment but nevertheless. Its nice to see people taking time to actually enjoy life. still they shouldnt have closed uni today, its all building up now, but at least i was ridiculously happy yday .luv.p.
